The Nissan Versa was launched in North America in 2006 as a five-door hatchback, with the four-door sedan version appearing later that same year. Under the hood lay a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 122hp. It drove the front wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission, a four-speed automatic or a CVT. When the Versa was launched, its low price made it the cheapest new car available in North America. All models were well equipped, with air-conditioning as standard, while higher trims had cruise control. Changes were minor, and mainly concerned cosmetics. The second-0generation car appeared in 2011, powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine.
